About Cobden Farm
Cobden Farm is a working, family farm, on the hillside overlooking the beautiful Sabden valley and Pendle Hil, in the Forest of Bowland AONB.
We are within five miles of Clitheroe, Burnley and Pendle.
John's dad came to Cobden Farm as a young teenager
to work in the 1920s. It was later run by him, and then by John.
For many years, it was mainly a dairy and pig farm. Now, sheep, lambs,
cows and calves graze the fields.
We have a six acre wood - Robinson's Wood - at the
top of the farm that borders Back Lane, an old Roman Road.
Other tree planting around the farm is part of the Forest of Burnley
Millennium scheme.
The boundary dry stone walls, hedgerows and trees reflect the
traditional upland farm landscape.
We have two natural springs which feed the farm's watercourses and
wildlife pond.
From the farmyard, we can see at Pendle Hill and its changing colours.
Whalley Nab and Great Harwood are at the bottom end of our valley,
